Reflexology is a holistic therapy based on the belief that there should be harmony between the physical, emotion and spiritual parts of the body to prevent dis-ease. It It focuses on specific points on the feet (or hands) that are believed to correspond to different organs and systems within the body. By applying pressure to these ‘reflex areas’ practitioners aim to promote relaxation, improve circulation and support the body’s natural healing processes.

The key principle behind reflexology is that the body is interconnected, and by applying pressure to specific points, it is possible to encourage balance and healing in other parts of the body. The energy in each zone needs to flow freely to maintain homeostasis within the body. Imbalances in the the body (an obstruction to energy flow) lead to disease.

Reflexology can help with a number or things including improving circulation and rebalancing the body, in particular hormones. It boosts immunity, improves sleep and digestion and reduces stress and tension. Overall it gives you an amazing sense of wellbeing.

There are many more benefits that people report although this varies from person to person.

A reflexology session will begin with a detailed consultation in which I will ask about your health history, lifestyle, diet and special health concerns. This conversation aims to create a complete picture of your overall well-being. Contra-indications will also be discussed.

I will then ask you to lie down on a bed and remove your socks. It’s best if you wear slightly loose fitting trousers as I will need to roll them up a little bit. Your feet will then be examined to look for any signs of tension, swelling or sensitivity which could indicate areas which may need extra attention.

I will then start to apply pressure to different reflex points using thumbs, fingers and knuckles. There may be small areas that feel a bit uncomfortable which indicate an imbalance but most people find it a very relaxing experience and many fall asleep!

Most treatments will last just under an hour. The first treatment will include an extra 15 minutes for the detailed consultation.

I am fully trained and insured to provide reflexology during pregnancy. My training includes the adaptations, contraindications, and considerations required to work safely and appropriately throughout all stages of pregnancy.

I have experience treating women from early pregnancy through to full term, and each session is carefully tailored to the individual.

Pregnancy reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that focuses on relaxation and overall wellbeing, helping support a sense of calm, balance, and emotional wellbeing during this time of change.

Pregnancy reflexology is always provided as a complementary therapy and works alongside, not in place of, conventional maternity care.

Most people feel a deep sense of relaxation which remains with them post treatment.

Whilst one session is very relaxing and can soothe an over-active nervous system, if you are coming for a specific health condition or chronic issues then reflexology is most effective after multiple sessions.
